FAQs for Parents & Caregivers

What might you be wondering?

Q: How is Let’s Connect sensitive to my culture and family experiences?

A: Before starting, your Let’s Connect® Provider will talk with you about your family background, how you express and respond to emotions, and how your culture and life experiences shape your parenting. These respectful, non-judgmental conversations help build a shared understanding as you move through the program.

Q: How will the skills I gain through the program be useful in the future?

A: Let’s Connect is designed to strengthen your relationship with your child, so they feel safe coming to you when they need support. The skills you gain will help you navigate important conversations—about friends, school, identity, family changes (like separation or loss), trauma, health, sexuality, substance use, social media, and more. Children who feel emotionally supported by their parents are more confident, independent, comfortable sharing their worries and concerns, and more likely to ask for help when they need it.

Q: What languages does Let’s Connect offer?

A: Our programs are currently available in English and Spanish.

Q: Is there research to support Let’s Connect?

A: Yes! Let’s Connect was developed by child psychologists and experts in child development and parenting. Research shows that when parents teach their children about emotions and model healthy emotion regulation, kids are better able to manage their feelings, build strong relationships, and succeed in school.

Specifically, studies on Let’s Connect have found:

  • Parents report less stress
  • Parents feel more supported and confident
  • Families incorporate Let’s Connect tools into daily routines, including calm and effective discipline
  • Children build stronger social and emotional skills, like managing big feelings
  • Children experience fewer mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, behavior problems, and trauma symptoms

A: Let’s Connect typically requires 10-16 sessions for the individual family format and 8-12 sessions when delivered in a group format. Individual family sessions typically last for one hour, and group sessions are delivered in 90 minutes.
